Georgetown Workshop for HODs Science


The Principal Education Officer of Georgetown, Mrs Ramsammy, today opened a workshop for all of the Heads of Science Departments in Georgetown Secondary Schools with the theme:

"Improving the Delivery of Science Education at Secondary Level"



The three-day workshop is being held at Tutorial High School from 23rd to 25th September 2008. Topics include the following:
  • HOD Evaluation of Performance

  • School Based Assessment

  • School Improvement Planning

  • Fostering Positive Attitudes towards Science Education

  • Table of Specification and Test Development

  • CSEC Results and the school Growth Index

  • The Way Forward

  • Preparation of general, annual and termly Schemes.

The facilitators are:


Mrs Roberts - Senior Science Specialist

Mrs Jettoo - Science Specialist

Mr Harding - Education Management Specialist

Mr Kellman - Lecturer II

Mr Goolsarran - Director of NCERD

Mrs Phoenix - Chief Test Development Office

Mrs Ramsammy P.E.O. Georgetown

We are certain that such an imput with HODs will have a very poistive effect on the quality of Science Education in our schools in Georgetown.

The first session, facilitated by Mr Harding, assisted the HODs in evaluating their own performance as leaders.
